I had no idea, since the creation of these little guys back in November 2020, that they would go on to become Workshop74s best seller.

Envisaging a limited run of half a dozen or so, I began alliteratively naming them: Ron, Reg, Rob, Rick, Rich were a few of the early names used.

At the time of writing this, I have robot number #76 currently on the work bench awaiting assembly and, since number #30, each new ‘bot that comes into existence is now individually numbered and signed (the signature (kWs74) being an amalgamation of both my name (Keith Wright) and Workshop74) to highlight the fact that each one is subtly different from its sibling.

The AVO meters used for the bodies can be Bakelite or metal, black or grey and range in model number, appearance and condition.

Similarly, the Box Brownie cameras come in a wide variety of models, styles and makes.

The braided flex is also available in every colour of the rainbow and, although I tend to use blacks, greys and silvers, can be multicoloured.

I think it’s fair to say that no two ‘bots are exactly the same and on occasions I make some special editions.
